Two years ago Mr.Jilani found Azmat, 11 years old, on the platform of the Howrah Station. He was terrified and desperate not knowing where to stay. Due to poverty, his parents forced him to work in a carpet factory in his village where he had to work hard from early morning until night. One day Azmat was beaten by his boss and so he decided to flee and leave behind this unbearable life. After traveling for two days he finally arrived at Howrah Station. Mr.Jilani was able to convince the frightened boy to stay at the Esperanza Boys Home, Panchpara. Now, Azmat has recovered from his difficult past and enjoys a peaceful and joyful childhood at the Ezperanza Home. He is admitted in a formal school in class II and is very interested in drawing and singing classes.
The 21 year old Parvati came to SEED 6 years ago. She is one of 10 children and her father was a daily wager, hence he was unable to support his big family with his earnings. Sometimes the family could not even afford two meals a day. When Parvati was in class III her father was unable to finance school due to poverty. She went to Kolkata with her uncle and started to work as a domestic help in the house hold of the owner of the rented building she was living in. After recognizing Parvati’s strong interest in studies her employer admitted her to a school and she had a very close relationship to the old couple that she called Grandma and Grandpa. When Parvati was in class IX Grandpa suddenly fell sick and some problems regarding to property matters arose. So the old couple was not able to give a safe shelter to Parvati anymore. Fortunately Parvati got in touch with the Hope Foundation and SEED through a friend of her. Parvati came to our Short Stay Home for Girls in 2001. In the safe and familiar atmosphere she was able to continue her studies. She passed the class X Examination in 2nd division successfully. She is a very smart and assiduous girl and studies very hard. At present she reads class XII and also attends Lady Brabourne Diploma course. Despite all the difficulties in her life Parvati never gave up and her strength will help her to become an educated and self-dependent woman.
